Japan is getting some promotional 7 Eleven furniture in December. These items include a 7 Eleven model shop, a counter with a cash register, and more.

Just bring your 3DS to a local 7 Eleven in Japan to wirelessly receive the exclusive furniture in your Animal Crossing game. You’ll want to come multiple times throughout the month as new furniture will be offered every week.

What are your thoughts on these types of promotions? Does it add to or take from the game’s atmosphere to have outside branded products like these in the game?

  • Jonathan

I think it’s unfair only one country gets it, I mean, if they’re going to give free items they should at least give it to American/European gamers too . .

    • ConCon

Yeah. I agree. For the month of November we should get it too.

      • Skuxx

Yeah . . , the Japanese are getting promotional furniture already, and for us, we don’t even have a release date yet! :(

        • Jonathan

          Mhmm . . I guess we’ll just have to wait :|

          • Gina

A rumor has it that the North American release date is January 22nd !! Here’s the link!! :D

Sorry to tell you but that’s a false date. You should check the citation for that date, which is just an article stating early 2013. Wikipedia shouldn’t be blindly trusted.

          • Gina

Oh, sorry Justin . I was just telling my friends :) I’ll tell them it’s not true .

          • Skuxx

Haha Wikepedia is never completely right with Video Games .. :LL

    • BluueKirbyy

Of course, like City Folk for example, they gave all gamers DLC furniture :) :)

  • Louise

Firstly, I just want to say thank you for this website as it provides the best information for AC3DS.
Secondly, I like the idea of going to the relevant shop to receive the items. Due to the fact that I cannot receive wifi nor can I afford anything that would provide it for me, travelling to the relevant shop (like Game for example) would allow me to participate in collecting rare furniture or wifi exclusives too. I doubt this would be the case for all, but at least then I could be included for some.

At first when I saw this I had mixed feelings, but after writing a massive post about why I liked and disliked it, I realized that I just liked it :P Stuff like this is why I like portable consoles. Nintendo has been doing stuff like this with Pokemon for years, albeit at Gamestop and Toys R Us. After you go somewhere to get your Pokemon, you always feel like you earned it, compared to when you just download it from offline. Although I hope it is always accessible to everyone. Like, if they have special Disney Content or something, don’t make it only available in Disney World.

    • Gina

Yeah. All countries should deserve to get it.

      • Jonathan

        Yeah . .

        • BluueKirbyy

Well perhaps we might get something the Japanese people won’t have.

    • Link01000

Although I guess it would add some incentive to trade with people online if there were special rare items… so I think I would actually like that having items that are hard to get. That way, if you got multiple sets of really rare furniture, you could sell it online and get loads of bells. And you could also spend all your bells on a rare set that you want. And I think it would be really cool if they had special clothes that had their own shape, so you couldn’t just make a pattern of it and it look identical to the original shirt…

  • Laugh xtreme

I like it! This gives the gamer chances to get out the dark cave they’ve been in like a nerd. And go out and get other things:)

    • http://gojustin.net Justin

      Haha, very true!

    • Yuki

      XD lol true dat

    • Jonathan

      Haha yeah! :P

  • froggy27

oh cool! I love the idea, and because the store is exclusive to japan, hopefully we’ll get different promo shops in different countries to swap and share. Idk if Sainsbury’s will be holding and animal crossing promo, though… :|

    • Felicity

7-11 isn’t a Japanese only store. It’s actually an American company.

      • Jonathan

Yes. And In Australia we have it everywhere too! But hopefully we’ll be able to get the items when our game gets released . .

    • Yuki

yea i hope so too XD

  • Sean

I like the items that don’t have the branding on them. The ones with the logo on it…it’s not that I dislike it exactly. It just messes with the imagination.

How exactly do these items appear in your game? Do you get them in the in-game mail or do you download them and then buy them in a shop? I ask this because if it’s the latter we will be able to buy them if we play with a japanese game on wifi.

    • Zobiuzombie

It’s some sort of Wi-Fi connection compatibility. How you will recieve them in-game, no one’s really sure of that at the moment.

  • Felicity

I personally love the idea. I”m not a big fan of it having the brand. But being able to go to stores and get stuff is cool. My only problem is sometimes I’m not always able to get to the store for events such as the toys R us pokemon downloads because I don’t have that many near by. However I love the idea of convenience stores and stuff. There are atleast two 7-11s in town I can go to. I hope they release this in America too when the game comes out here.

  • Soggybons

This is probably the worst thing I have ever seen added to the game.

    • Skuxx

      Why ?

      • Yuki

this is awesome how is it bad XD

        • Jonathan

I know right, the more features the game has the more awesome it is, I just hope we’ll be able to get the furniture, haha it looks soo cool :D

          • soggybons

but like putting brands into the game that arent actually meant to be part of the game, especially something as low as 7-11, just seems really weird to me.

          • Jonathan

I guess it’s somewhat a little strangeif you think about it .. :o

  • Jonathan

Hey guys, does anybody know how to make an Animal Crossing: New leaf blog account ? :L

    • Yuki

yea i want to know to well if they have one of course

      • Jonathan

Yeah, because I want a picture like some other people have ahah :)

        • Yuki

          me too XD

  • Michael

Looks like there is also some other kind of DLC maybe….Nook’s Clock and a turkey dinner. You pick DLC up at town hall?

  • Yuki

this is cool i wnder instead of 7 eleven furniture it would be another store like Dasio my favorite japanese store just incase you didnt know, McDonal, or Macy’s something like that and i didnt know there were & eleven stores in japan cool anyway i really like the idea i love getting new furniture XD

    • Jonathan

Mc Donalds would be awesomely hilarious! Haha :P

  • Jonathan

Hey Justin is the European release date still scheduled to be ‘early’ ?

    • http://gojustin.net Justin

“Early 2013″ is the official word for the moment.

      • Jonathan

        Okay. Thanks heaps Justin! :D

  • MC

I think having a real-world company in Animal Crossing kinda takes away from the feeling of living in your own little world.
    But then again…
Having a room themed like a 7-11 shop sounds really cute!

  • chillv

Sounds gimmicky. It seems like a trick to get people to shop at a certain place just to get free stuff, but thats just my opinion.

    • chillv

Let me add to that. It would be cool if they added something in the mall called the Promo Spot or something and if you went to a certain store, you could go to the Promo Spot and go to the store in the game. For example, if you went to JCPenny then you could go into a store modeled to look like JCPenny (Even though the clothing you can still be found in the Able Sisters or Grace) it would make going to boring places like wal-mart to being fun.

  • BluueKirbyy

Woah. That would of been cool! They’d manually update stock/promotion items each month and stuff . . for different promotional items! :)

  • DANI

    En españa es el 5/01/13!!!!!

    • Jonathan

      Someone translate that ^

      • ConCon

Spain in either Jan 5th or May 1st.

        Doubt either is accurate.

        • Skuxx

          Mm ..

This is how Japan have been working with games for years, they use 2 deferent tactics.

1: they release a game world wide at the same date, all the copies contains the same game-play items and unlock-ables, but the Japanese version got this extra character, special stages, more items or events in game costumes/skins.

2: They make 2 or 3 deferent release dates 1 for Japan 1 for EU and a third for USA and sometimes the EU and USA dates are the same but Japan is of course the first to get it and when that happens they get exclusive items, cloth, skins or events just before the rest of the world gets it and misses the stuff.

My personal opinion is that the seven eleven furniture is not getting outside of Japan you only have 2 options, 1 buy the game in Japan and start it there to get the furniture or 2 trade with a Japanese (not gonna happen because its exclusive) who wants to trade the furniture.
I still want the game i just don’t hope Japan gets too many items we miss because does items they are going to become ‘very’ expensive to trade, and might ruin the trade costs and balance off the items.

-.- They better be using the money 7-11 paid them for the game to be released in EU and US sooner.
